The Indian Institute of Public Health (IIPH) Shillong formally inaugurated its Regional Office in Tura, marking an important step toward strengthening public health research, capacity building, and implementation support in the region. The programme brought together district officials, health leaders, faculty, and partners, reflecting a shared commitment to evidence-based planning and responsive health services.
Held on the occasion of Meghalaya Day, the event was enriched with a cultural performance by IIPH staff, paying tribute to our motherland through “Aman A·song”, and celebrating the state’s heritage alongside its public health journey.
The Tura Regional Office will serve as a decentralised hub for closer collaboration with district administrations, frontline workers, and communities, enabling locally grounded solutions to the unique health challenges of the Garo Hills. Through this expansion, IIPH Shillong reaffirms its commitment to strengthening health systems and advancing equitable, community-driven public health action across Meghalaya and the Northeast.
