The Indian Institute of Public Health Shillong (IIPH Shillong), in partnership with Civil Hospital Nongpoh, organised a hands-on Basic Life Support (BLS) Training Programme for healthcare personnel in Ri Bhoi district.
The three-day training was conducted on 13th, 14th and 15th April 2026 at Civil Hospital Nongpoh and brought together Medical Officers, nurses, and support staff from peripheral government health centres. The programme aimed to strengthen emergency response skills and improve preparedness among frontline healthcare workers.
Facilitated by expert instructors from IIPH Shillong, the sessions were highly interactive and focused on the practical application of lifesaving techniques in real-world settings. Participants received training in essential skills such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED), and methods for relieving choking emergencies.
The initiative reflects IIPH Shillong’s continued commitment to building local capacity and supporting healthcare systems through skill-based training programmes that enhance emergency care readiness.
