The Indian Institute of Public Health Shillong (IIPH Shillong) commemorated the 25th anniversary of World Heart Day on 30th September 2025 at Nongdiengngan, Umsning, Ri-Bhoi District, under the theme “Don’t Skip a Beat.”
The event brought together faculty, public health professionals, students, and community members for a day dedicated to heart health awareness and preventive care. Activities included free health check-ups, medicine distribution, Zumba sessions promoting physical activity, and hygiene demonstrations aimed at encouraging healthier lifestyles.
Students from the Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) and Master of Public Health (MPH) programmes presented impactful skits highlighting the risks of smoking, alcohol use, unhealthy diets, and the emotional impact of domestic violence on cardiovascular health. Their performances reinforced the importance of addressing both physical and emotional well-being in public health practice.
The celebration reflected IIPH Shillong’s continued commitment to community-centred public health and strengthening preventive health initiatives at the grassroots level.
