The Indian Primary Healthcare Support Initiative project in collaboration involving Johns Hopkins University, USA, AIIMS New Delhi, Institute of Public Health, Shillong and Government of Meghalaya, convened a key meeting with the West Garo Hills District Health officials on 5th of June 2025 at Tura, West Garo Hills to discuss the next phase of healthcare interventions in the District. The meeting was chaired by Dr. S. Boro, Joint Director of Health Services, and was attended by the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO), Additional DMHO, Medical Officers (MOs), and other district health officials. Representatives from the central IPSI team based in New Delhi, along with members of the project team from IIPH Shillong and PHFI, also participated in the meeting..
The meeting focused on key areas like competency-based District Manager Training, NQAS and Cross-Learning Support, PHC-led HWC Coaching Model, Community Engagement through VHC-HWC Linkages. This meeting was a follow-up to the state-level discussion held on 3rd June 2025 in Shillong and was convened to gather the district’s perspective on the proposed interventions for health system strengthening in West Garo Hills.
