CMAM TRAINING

IIPH Shillong, in collaboration with Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) and the Government of Meghalaya, is in the preparatory phases of a project seeking to implement a model for Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) among 0-5 years olds in select blocks of Meghalaya. The CMAM Project Team participated in a week of training from the 21st to the 24th of April, 2025. The, newly recruited, Field Staff and Coordinators were briefed on basic concepts of nutrition including anthropometric and dietary assessments and an overview of malnutrition. They also received training on community engagement strategies and practical tools for participatory rural appraisal. Time was dedicated to team building, fostering connections between staff and inculcating the values IIPH Shillong strives to uphold.

Armed with this new knowledge and experience, teams will soon be setting to work implementing and measuring the impact of the CMAM intervention in select villages of West Garo Hills, Ri Bhoi and East Khasi Hills.
